Humanitarian Aide
The Humanitarian Aide piece of Ethiopia Hope is focused on partnering with Ethiopian Churches for the relief and restoration to orphans and widows. Because of poor healthcare, no government programs, and extreme poverty, children are born into families that cannot support them or who have diseases that end in death. We believe financial support is an efficient means of addressing some of these needs, but the Church is called to go, so we send short-term ministry teams to show God's love in practical ways. That’s part of what it means to live the Life of Jesus.
We began in the Leper Colony of Addis Ababa called Korah. Korah is a community within the capital city where lepers and HIV/AIDS patients came to be treated at the Alert Hospital. They cannot afford to return to their homes, so a settlement was created that today is over 130,000 people. We partnered with Bright Hope School to create an agricultural farm on the school property to feed the children at the school, help them learn a trade, and provide the community with a self-sustaining business model. The Harvest Kids ministries bought chickens and feed, our families paid for a well and building a wall around the school, built a Chicken house and restored land for farming.
How You Can Help
Pray - Harvest has partnered with several Churches in Ethiopia who we support through sending teams, providing training in leadership business and medicine and prayer. You will soon be able to meet these Churches online and pray for their latest prayer needs
Go - Because Jesus commanded every Christ-follower to go into all the world, we believe a cross-cultural ministry experience expands our understanding of God and His Church. Not everyone can adopt a child, but we are constantly seeking connections with the skills God has given us at Harvest to resource the Church in Ethiopia. Currently we are sending work teams, medical teams, leadership development training teams and business teams. To download an application, click the button below.
