Ethiopia Hope
Ethiopia Hope is the Global Outreach ministry of Harvest Church. Just as Harvest is Community Focused in our local and regional outreach efforts, we also serve the needs of Ethiopia by caring for the physical, mental, social and spiritual condition. We believe that the Church is the hope of the world because it is the only organization that cares for people's entire condition. Therefore we are seeking partnerships with Churches in Ethiopia that have the same calling as Harvest.
James 1:27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
Ethiopia Hope centers its efforts of serving orphans and widows as well as providing prevention programs. Some estimate that there are as many as 4-6 million orphans in Ethiopia. Orphanages and aide organizations are overwhelmed by the numbers of children needing help. While they help as many as they can, large numbers of orphans are left to survive on the streets. Estimations show there are 250,000 homeless orphans on the streets of the capital city alone! Children in Ethiopia are vulnerable to many dangers, including starvation, disease, human trafficking (e.g. sex slave trade), rape and other hazards of street life.
While Harvest's Ethiopia Hope is not an adoption agency, we encourage parents wanting to expand their family to make a difference by adopting an orphan into a Christian home. As these children are raised in Christian homes and Harvest we pray that someday some of them will return to Ethiopia and share Christ's love as they have received it.
