Looking for God
At one point or another, we all end up asking ourselves whether or not there’s more to this life that we live than the day in, day out rhythm of life. We look for purpose, peace, security, love and a host of other solutions to whatever our questions may be.
The good news is that there is more to life. Jesus tells us that He came “so [we] can have real and eternal life, more and better life than [we] ever dreamed of.” (John 10:10)
Steps to understand and receive a real and eternal life through Jesus:
To accept this free gift of grace, you must:
- Accept your separation from God and the actions that come from living by your own rules (the Bible calls them “sin”). Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.
- Believe that God offers to forgive your sin through Christ’s death on the cross in your place. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Give Christ Control of your life by taking the Bible as the guide for your life. Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
Prayer to begin this new life
God, I realize that I have not trusted your Leadership and that my sins prove that. Thank you for putting my guilt on Your Son when he died on the cross. I receive Christ’s forgiveness for my sin and begin my new life by pursuing Your plan for my life, Amen.
