June 20th, 2011 - Update at 10:15pm

Roundup:  We are planning on a “all hands on deck” cleanup day on Saturday, June 25th.  This past weekend we had a great crew of volunteers working at Roundup and got lots done, but we did not get to all the people or places in need. Since we were able to pump a lot of water out last week, we are now able to help more folks clean up their homes and yards. We need 100 volunteers Saturday to get the job done. Our goal is to get Roundup cleaned up for the 4th of July. If you can join us, please let us know by Friday at noon if possible.  On Saturday, please check in at St. Benedict's Catholic Church (503 Main Street) in Roundup at 9am. Expect to complete the work day at 4pm.  Lunch is provided.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Water pumping

  • Yard cleanup
  • Mucking out basements
  • Sheetrock removal
  • Sanitizing walls
  • Garbage pickup
  • Etc...
Volunteer Information (what to bring):

  • Rubber gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Water to drink
  • Face mask
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Insect repellant
  • Long pants
  • Proper footwear (no sandals or flip flops)
  • Tools (crowbars, sheetrock knife, hammer, shovel, wheelbarrow, and dump trailer if you have one.

May 28, 2011 - Update

We are in conversations with the Musselshell County Disaster and Emergency Services Agency to mobilize relief efforts once the flood waters recede in the Roundup, MT community. Our intention is to mobilize 500 volunteers to help with area clean up projects. We will have approximately 48 hours notice to mobilize.

How you can help

  • As we were reminded this past weekend in services, nothing happens until we act! Volunteer to help and make a difference (complete the form below)
  • Childcare workers will be needed at the Heights Campus to enable others to travel to Roundup
  • Heavy machinery (loaders, bobcats, etc)
  • Dump trucks, pickups, flatbed trailers, etc. (we will be hauling debris away from populated areas)
  • Trash bags, shovels, rakes, work gloves, etc.

May 25, 2011

In the past 3 days we've seen significant rainfall in the Billings area creating road closures, flooding, mandatory evacuations and property damage, and an increased need for clothing, food, water, etc.

We want to be a church that matters in our community and at the same time let our congregation know what we are doing as a church and how we can help further.

To date we have:

  • Facilitated the delivery of 20,000 gallons of potable water to the Crow Agency in Hardin, MT
  • We are in active collaboration with the Red Cross and aiding in the distribution of goods (The Heights Campus is a collection point for ADL supplies (Activities for Daily Living, e.g. deodorant, toothpaste, etc.)
  • The Heights Campus is an emergency housing site for the Red Cross and we are awaiting word on whether this service will be activated from the Red Cross

At this point all of the identified needs in our community that we know of have been addressed, but we are currently in a holding pattern in collaboration with the Red Cross to learn whether mobilization of additional materials and people are needed. If and when that call comes in, as a church we will need to respond quickly to the needs in our community.

If you or someone you know needs assistance, please complete visit the Need Help Flood Relief Page.

If you are available to Reach Out and help others in our communities in the Billings and surrounding areas, we would like to collect contact information for those individuals. Please complete the form below to join a Volunteer Reserve Team.

Additionally, you may drop off any toiletries for the following items to the Heights Campus for distribution via Red Cross:

  • Kids games
  • clothing
  • blankets
  • toiletries
  • bottled water
  • portable food items (crackers, cookies, trail mix, etc)
  • etc
