At Harvest we are not too interested in looking like and acting like a "church." We simply want to do whatever we can to help people know and experience God through Jesus Christ. If we didn't believe that God is who He said He is, that He loves us, and that He has the answer to life's dilemmas, we wouldn't bother. But we do believe these things and so we are determined to live our lives and use our lives in a manner that gives God glory and gives people a picture of who Jesus Christ really is.
Our goal at Harvest is that those who are curious about Jesus, and those who are hostile toward Jesus, can come and investigate His claims. We also strive to provide an atmosphere of worship and learning and friendship for those who are endeavoring to be completely committed Christ-followers. We know it is not easy to "do church" in such a way, but that is exactly what we are setting out to do. We're simply trying to make Jesus as available as possible to as many people as possible.
You are more than welcome to join us in our pursuit of Truth, and our pursuit of each other.
What kind of church has climbing walls in the lobby?!
Great question. At Harvest we believe a church exists to serve the community in which it sits. We figured this would be a fun way to serve people. The essence of Jesus' life was service and He told us to follow His example. He served us all the way to the cross so the least we can do is build a climbing wall and let people use it.
Many people today believe that church, Jesus, and the Bible are irrelevant. But, we believe the Bible has the words of Life, that Jesus offers Life through His death, and that the church is the carrier of that message. Naturally we think there is nothing more relevant. So you see, at Harvest we hope to communicate the love and life of Christ through everything we do. Does that mean somebody is going to preach at you while you climb? No way! The walls are just a way to say we know you're there and we care about you and the things you like to do. If it leads to a spiritual conversation or if you happen to attend a worship service, great - but there are no strings, ropes or straps attached.
Besides, a big tall wall with nothin' on it but paint is an awful waste of space. climb on!
