I like the word “declination.” It’s one of those words that comes off the tongue rapidly but smoothly. Like warm butter drizzling on popcorn. But I ridiculously digress. Declination is “the angular deviation of a compass needle from true north.” This is important because the compass always points to magnetic north. And this is a problem because magnetic north is always changing. And if it is changing, how can you know where you are and where you are going? Too many of us live our lives guided by the ever changing and unreliable magnetic north – things like our feelings, cultural whims, other’s expectations, selfish dreams – all sorts of fickle winds. All those journeys, if sailed to the edge of the earth, end with a disastrous shipwreck. Thankfully, you don’t have to get on that boat. Thankfully, God, and His Bible, show us where we are, where we should be going, and HOW to get there. Thankfully He shows us True North. Join us as we discover some navigational tools for a successful journey through life.
