90 Day Tithe Challenge

Malachi 3:10 says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty,“and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

This is the only verse in scripture where God directly challenges us to test Him and see the floodgates of Heaven thrown open with overflowing blessings.The word tithe is derived from Hebrew and literally means "a tenth" or 10%. So, give 10% of your gross income and He will bless you. But as with all things in scripture, blessing comes only after our obedience or step of faith.

If you are an Emerging Giver, and are not used to giving back to God 10% of your gross income, the idea itself can be pretty radical. However, we believe so strongly in God's promises that we've created the 90 Day Tithe Challenge; a money back guarantee, of sorts. God is the owner of all and does not need our resources, yet He still models generosity and challenges us to trust Him.

In Proverbs 3:9-10 we are told to "honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops and then your barns will be filled to overflowing." We give the first 10% and the blessing of God will follow.

If you've never trusted God in this way, test Him! Accept the 90 Day Tithe Challenge. If after 90 days of faithful giving God does not hold true to His promises, we will refund 100% of your tithe. No questions asked.

Terms of the 90 Day Tithe Challenge

•   I understand that by submitting this agreement, my household will begin to give 10% of our gross income to Harvest Church General Fund.
•   I have not been giving a regular tithe for the last 6 months.
•   I understand that the 90 day period begins after my first tithe payment.
•   I understand that I am entitled to a full refund of the amounts given during the 90 Day Tithe Challenge if I am not convinced that God has blessed my life during that time.
•   I understand that my tithe must be paid by check or through Harvest’s online giving option so that my tithe can be properly accounted for.
•   I understand that my request for a refund can only be made 90 to 120 days after my first tithe payment.

If you are a Tithing Giver, (one who regularly gives 10% of their gross increase to their local church) or an Expanding Giver, (one who regularly gives more than 10%) you are obediently following the biblical model of giving. Great job!

Aren’t you glad that God’s generosity to us isn’t limited? We believe that living life as though Jesus were living through you shouldn’t be limited either.

2 Corinthians 8:7 says, “Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love for us—I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.”

Excelling in the gift of generosity is one way to show our gratitude for God's generosity toward us. That's why we've created the 1% Challenge.

The 1% Challenge is for those who are already giving obediently through the Tithe and it is an encouragement to consider being generous by increasing your giving by 1% as an Expanding Giver.

Find where you are on the chart (your annual gross income and current giving percentage). Move to the right to determine how much you are willing to grow in your monthly giving.
A good rule of thumb is 1/2% to 1% each year.
